Our family's dream of Africa began long before we ever knew it was a dream.

Founder Kerri Gatlin’s father came from humble beginnings. As a young man, he hunted the Texas Hill Country not for trophies, but to help put food on the table. Through hard work, determination, and an athletic scholarship that helped pay for his education, he went on to achieve success in business, raise a family, and pursue his passion for hunting and ranching.

Over time, what began as necessity became a way of life. He became a rancher, raising exotic game animals and Texas Longhorn cattle, and his love for wildlife led him to Africa for the first time in the 1970s. Kerri was only a baby then, but the stories he brought home—the vast landscapes, incredible wildlife, and spirit of adventure—would leave a lasting impression on the entire family.

Years later, Kerri married Case Gatlin Sr., a lifelong South Texas hunter who shared the same passion for the outdoors. While Kerri had grown up in a hunting family, hunting and ranching would soon become central to their lives together. They raised three children, built their own ranching operation in Texas, and eventually welcomed son- and daughters-in-law into the family tradition.

It was only a matter of time before Case Sr. made his own journey to Africa, inspired by the stories he had heard from his late father-in-law. After his first safari in the early 1990s, he knew he had to share the experience with his family. Before long, each of them had discovered the magic of Africa for themselves—its breathtaking beauty, abundant wildlife, and unforgettable sense of freedom.

From that point on, the dream grew larger. They wanted more than visits; they wanted a place of their own in Africa—a place that could be shared with family, friends, and guests who would come to appreciate the continent as deeply as they had.

After years of searching, countless conversations, and moments when giving up seemed easier than pressing on, they finally found the perfect property. It was a special place that had been lovingly cared for by a family who valued it just as they did. The timing was right, and the opportunity to continue its legacy became a reality.

Today, we are humbled and grateful to share our passion for Africa through G Bar Safaris. What began with stories told around the family table has become a dream fulfilled—a place where lifelong memories are made, traditions are passed down, and the beauty and wonder of Africa can be experienced by all who visit.

We are blessed to share this larger piece of Africa’s endless sky, wild beauty, and rich heritage with our family, friends, and guests.
